Planning a Baby Shower

Have you been invited to attend a baby shower for a loved one? Or maybe you have decided to throw a baby shower for a friend and need some tips on planning? Baby showers are a time to celebrate the sweet new life and for moms to share advice on babies and parenting and give some meaningful and useful baby shower gifts

 Set The Date

Anyone from a coworker to family member can decide to host the baby shower for the parents to be. People normally decide to set the shower date in the last two months of pregnancy; however, some parents might want to have a post-birth shower. Make sure to ask what the parents would like to do because they might want to go ahead and stock up their little one’s nursery, or they might prefer to wait until the baby can also attend.

 Second or Third Babies

Traditionally, hosting a baby shower for a mom who already has other kids, would be a smaller event, since the mom probably already has baby items. The party would typically only host family and close friends, but if many years have passed between the other children, a larger event would be understandable because the parents might not still have all of the baby necessities.

 Invites

With modern technology at your fingertips, using the web or mobile device might be a cost and time effective way to invite guests to the shower. Written invitations are a nice keepsake for the momentous event. They can add to the theme of the shower. On the invitation, make sure to include where the parents to be are registered, as well as if the shower is coed or child friendly.

 Drinks

Cocktails, champagne, or wines are a fun way to break the ice at the shower, but make sure to ask the mother to be what her preference for the guests is. She might not want alcohol libations at the party since she cannot partake.

 Food

Depending on the time of day that the shower is, you could do anything from light appetizers to a full course meal. Again, the mom to be’s preference would be ideal, since she is the one eating for two.

 Games

A fun way to celebrate is by playing some shower games. Although gift opening is normally the main event, games like guess the belly size or baby bingo are a fun way to entertain guest. Another activity you can do is have the guests write encouraging words on a canvas or book that will be in the child’s nursery and a very sweet keepsake.

Baby showers are a great way to celebrate new life and give baby shower gifts to the parents to be, but the sweetest gift will be the new little one!
