Do I really need SEO?

There are billions of websites live on various search engines all competing for the same thing.

So how do you stand out from the competition? That’s where SEO comes in extremely useful.

To understand why you need SEO you must first understand what it is. So...

What is SEO?

SEO is the process of increasing your search engine rankings (SERP’s). An in order to complete such a process it will require a number of steps, ranging from Technical SEO, Local SEO, and much, much more. You can see more of an indepth guide here of what's expected - SEO Checklist.

SEO can be confusing and complicated for the less computer adept. Most companies will try to blind you with the science of the process and trick you into thinking it is almost magic. The problem is, they're right. Yes, maybe they don’t need to blind you with the science, of course this is just a simple sales technique, but it really is a form of magic.

However, don’t be fooled, SEO isn't something you can integrate overnight, it is a very long and pain staking process.

In a nutshell, for those of you who have never even heard of SEO before, Search Engine Optimization is just a bunch of technical and sometimes non-technical adjustments and strategies used to climb you up the ranks. If your planning on paying a professional, I wouldn’t give yourself the brain ache of looking too much into it.

Why do I need SEO?

As I mentioned SEO climbs you up the search engine results page. You don’t need me to tell you how effective this could be. Whether your business has a niche category or an extremely over saturated one, it is very unlikely that your website will rank at the top of Google without any sort of SEO.

Ranking at the top of your chosen search engine isn’t just for show. Think of yourself conducting a daily Google search, how often do you navigate to the 3rd, the 4th or, even the 2nd page of results? 99% of us will click the first link we see and check out that site, and if it’s what we wanted, we won’t even bother working our way through any other sites. You can see how this can be a problem if your website is pages and pages away. No-one will ever find it, and that’s a problem, from an marketing and a sales point of view. The more visitors your website attracts the more potential customers you have, and that’s always a good thing.

Although SEO is primarily considering a process of boosting your site higher up the SERP’s. It’s not the entire plot of the story. SEO generally gives your business a whole larger presence across the web. Your site will start appearing on other pages, other websites and directories, so people don’t necessarily have to search for your website to find your business. If SEO is done right, the website will find them.

As I mentioned SEO can be a huge process and it’s not something we specialists can just push a button for, but the end game is simply pushing more traffic through your door (your website of course...not your actual door!)

A lot of business also seem to overlook services like these (it’s beyond me why) but in most cases it’s because the business owner simply doesn’t understand its benefits. This is why hiring an seo expert will push you right above the competition, because when your website has been optimized, you will leave all of those generic, non-optimized business behind, this is where your business can really start to soar!
