The pilgrimage guide to Santiago is the one that entails a strenuous experience. People have to walk a very long way with their luggage to a place that they do know or have even a kinsman. They must be facing home nostalgia and deprivation of home comfort for something they do not know what may befall them on the way. I think that it is not wise just to begin walking aimlessly spending a quality amount of your time and stuff for something that will not pay in the end. Myself I cannot adventure in such a tiring pilgrimage if it the case of faith, I think there are other ways you can show my faith.

The particular things that I read and see are that many of the pilgrims did not do the pilgrimage voluntarily and as a migratory exile from their fatherland. Things also that help me understand the topic is the presence of churches along the way with monuments that encourage the people to tread on. The monuments on the way and at Jerusalem encourage them to venture on that they may just have that pleasure of evidencing their belief in Christ Jesus. They will just feel happy after seeing the place where Jesus was crucified,  the river of his baptism and that is all.

To medieval pilgrim, there is just that pleasure of adventuring, but with the modern pilgrim, it is just something you can do to pass the time and cannot take it that actively. In the modern world, family and colleagues may think of the pilgrims as idlers and people who love pleasure.

Some of the preparations that are in requirement are packing of food, water, some special attire and shoes. However, the modern society does not support that undertaking as they think of something that they do not expect people to do in this modern world.
