Getting engaged is always exciting, especially over the holidays with family and friends around to share in the excitement! Many say it is the best time of their lives! But now that you have the ring, what do you do next?

Here are 3 important first steps:

1) Wedding Venue

Finding your wedding venue is an extremely important first step after you get engaged. For many couples, the actual date is fully dependent on what days are available at the venue of their dreams. Wedding venues are booking up fast, especially in summers and fall months! In order to save money, many couples are choosing Friday or Sunday weddings or choosing a time in the winter months. If there is a certain wedding date that is special to you, you may want to be flexible with your venue location in order to fit it around the date you desire. Deciding your wedding venue will set the tone for the overall theme for your wedding and allow everything else to fall into place.

2) The Gown

Finding your wedding dresses is the perfect next step! We always tell our brides that the venue and wedding gown go hand-in-hand and encourage them to fully book the venue and set the date before beginning their search. Most of our designers take about 4 to 6 months for the gowns to come into our store after ordering, because of the nature of mermaid wedding dresses, we suggest ordering about 8 to 9 months out to ensure that you have time for any necessary alterations. Many brides are unaware of just how far out the decision should be made. Most of our designers offer a rush fee to get the gown in before the 6 month mark. We want to create an amazing memory and one that you will always cherish forever! Finding your wedding gown can be an exciting time, and we would love to create a lasting memory with you!

3) The Photographer

Wedding photography has grown drastically over the past few years, and there is definitely a wide range of talent! This can be a big decision, and we always tell our brides that it is one of the most important decisions that you can make, because you will have your memories and photos forever. It is important to do your research and ask around based on what photography style you like best. You found a gorgeous gown, now find the right photographer to capture it!

I encourage you to slow down and enjoy the moments leading up to your wedding-planning and all!  There is a lot of fun and joy in planning the best day of your life! And no matter what happens, remember that the goal is to end up marrying the one you love-and the end of the day, the details are only details, but love is forever!
