Understanding The Need For Needle Valves And Their Different Types
Posted by massmeasure on April 12th, 2019
Needle valves are in use for years for controlling flow and protecting delicate gauges from getting damaged by sudden pressure surges of liquids and gases. Usually made of stainless steel, bronze, brass, or metal alloys, the valves are primarily designed for systems, which require use of lighter and less viscosity materials with low flow rates. They can be found installed in low-pressure hydraulics, chemical processing, and other gas and liquid systems. The three most commonly used needle valves include-
1. Double block and bleed needle valve- Double block and bleed or DBB needle valve is a single valve with two seating surfaces that provides a seal against pressure from both ends of the valve in the closed position, with a mean of vending/bleeding the cavity. The most popular styles in DBB include J-flow, trunnion style needle valves, etc. The biggest advantage of using this type of valve is that it prevents you from the need of using 3 separate needle valves and saves you time. It also reduces space and weight on the piping system. Buy block and bleed needle valve online to cut down the installation time and minimize the risk of hazards when transferring liquids.
2. Motorized Needle Valve: This type of needle valve does not have a handle for manual operation. Instead, you are required to use an electric or pneumatic actuator in order to connect to or turn the plunger. Motorized needle valves are connected to a hydraulic motor and they automatically open and close. Based on timers or external performance data gathered when monitoring the machinery, the motor or actuator adjusts the plunger’s position These automated needle valves can be remotely controlled, and/or put on a timer to accurately control the flow rate, or used in a closed loop system.
3. Angle Needle Valve: Unlike many other flow limited valves, which are designed to turn the output in-line, an angle needle valve is designed to turn the output from the inlet exactly by 90 degrees. Although the function is the same, 90-degree angle allowed by the valves ensures better hydraulic system integration.
How to shop for multi-port needle valves?
When shopping for high-quality multi-port needle valves, take into consideration the material used in the manufacturing of the product, pressure required in the particular application, the highest possible temperature of the area where they would be installed and operate, port and orifice size, etc. Use a top quality needle valve to control flow and reduce pressure in systems.
