The plate type heat exchanger has a compact layout, and the heat transfer area per unit volume is 2 / 5 times that of the shell and tube heat exchangers.Also,it doesn’t need to reserve a controlled maintenance site like shell and tube heat exchanger.Therefore, when the same heat transfer mission is completed, the floor area of plate heat exchanger is about 1/5~1/10 of that of shell and tube heat exchanger.

6. High heat transfer coefficient
The layout of the shell and tube heat exchanger is excellent in terms of strength,but it is not effective in terns of heat transfer due to the existence of Baffle-shell, baffle-heat pipe, by-pass between control-housing in the activity of fluid in shell side.The fluid passing through the bypass does not fully participate in heat transfer.There’s no no bypass of plate type heat exchanger while the ripple of the plate can make the fluid turbulent at a relatively small flow rate.Therefore, the plate type heat exchanger has a higher heat transfer coefficient, which is usually 3 / 5 times that of the shell and tube heat exchanger.
