The Best Things to Do In St. Lucia For A Leisurely Escape

Posted by Butterfly Residential on April 15th, 2019

St Lucia real estate sector is seeing an upsurge from visitor arrivals. St. Lucia is a bubbling, brooding volcanic mass of an island that rises from the middle of the Lesser Antilles in a medley of rugged coastal coves and mountainous peaks. It’s a place of wild highland walks and adrenaline-thumping ziplines too, curious creatures and out-at-sea adventures.

Before you look for houses for sale in Saint Lucia, let’s explore the best things to do in St. Lucia:

Take a Break at Marigot Bay:

Immerse in the sight of one of the loveliest natural harbors in the Caribbean, only 5 miles south of Castries. Daysail trips along the island’s west coast all make a side trip into Marigot Bay simply because it is so gorgeous. Arrive on your own to hang around Capella Marina, ogle at the stunning sailboats & yachts, relish a waterside lunch, toast the sunset, or have an appetizing dinner. A small ferry takes commuters back & forth across the bay to a small beach – the journey takes a minute or so.

Climb the Gros Piton:

No tour to the stunning St. Lucia could probably be complete without at least a short trip to spy out the most recognizable & legendary Heirtage Site on the Island. The remarkable duo of the Pitons, UNESCO-leveled & soaring like spearheads from the rollers of the ocean, mark the shoreline around sleepy Soufriere.

The largest of the two, known suitably as the Gros Piton, reaches a whopping 798 meters, making it the second-highest mountain in the country.

Meander Through the Botanical Garden:

Each side of every corridor that cuts through Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens in Soufrière bursts with tropical flowers—pink, purple, red, yellow, orange, blue—and a astounding amount of greenery. The gardens are part of a 2,000-acre land grant presented by French king Louis XVI in 1713. Eventually, you reach Diamond Falls, where the mineral-filled cascade has caused the underlying rock to shine like diamonds. Peace, quiet, beauty, and “floribunda”…a very nice afternoon break.

Sail Along the Coast:

The most pleasant way to get from the north to St. Lucia’s charming natural attractions in Soufrière is via sea. Catamaran trips depart from Rodney Bay Marina and Capella Marina in Marigot Bay for the splendid sail south to Soufrière Bay. The sailing trip includes excursions to the drive-in volcano, botanical garden, and lunch at a historic plantation.
