Diamond alternative rings that you should look out for

There are a lot of alternative engagement rings to diamond rings that couples should look out for in the market. Diamond engagement rings tend to be more expensive compared to other materials. That being said, you can however still get other ring alternatives and feel highly satisfied.

Emeralds

Emeralds are one of the four most precious stones alongside diamonds, sapphires and rubies. Emeralds come in different colours but the most common colour is green. It is crucial to understand that Emeralds are softer compared to rubies, diamonds and other stones. You should, therefore, be careful on the setting you choose.

Sapphires

Did you know that Princess Diana chose her sapphire from a jewellery collection that was meant for the common folk? This is still the most popular engagement ring ever. Sapphires promote tranquillity and they are known to symbolize faithfulness among couples. They are, therefore, a nice choice for an engagement ring because they signify that you are going to stick to one person forever. Sapphires are typically blue but they can also come in pink, green, white and yellow. Sapphires are super durable so if you are looking for something that will last a lifetime then you should consider sapphires.

Moissanite

This is a gemstone that came from Space a la meteorites. If you are into the phases of the moon and into your horoscope then this could be the best stone for you. Naturally occurring moissanite is very rare. Most of what you get nowadays is created in the lab. However, moissanite is nearly hard as diamonds and it can be cut well to mimic diamond so they are normally used as an alternative to diamond engagement rings. Moissanite is very popular because it is shinier and cheaper.

Lab-grown diamonds

Generally, this does not fall under diamond alternatives. However, it is not similar to the traditional diamonds you know; if you are not pumped about blood diamonds and you doubt about your diamond is free from conflict, then it could be the right time to go for the lab-grown diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds are typically at least 20% cheaper than naturally occurring diamonds. The chemical composition of the naturally occurring diamond and the lab-grown diamond is identical but the biggest difference is that lab-grown diamonds are not as old as the naturally occurring diamonds and they were not found in a mine by a worker who was underpaid or forced to do the job.

Lab-grown diamonds are made in labs by scientists. If you want something that looks and is chemically exactly the same as diamonds but is way cheaper than diamonds, then you should go for the lab-grown diamonds.

Rubies

Rubies can also be used as alternative engagement rings to diamond. They are just as expensive as diamonds. Mark Zuckerburg proposed to his wife with a ring that had three ruby stones at the centre and the ring was flanked by a diamond on both sides. People use rubies to symbolize love and passion with their rich red colour. Rubies are tough and they can survive regular life impacts.
