Did you know that cake decoration is not only an art, but it is also therapeutic? People who aren't really adept at decorating cakes may lack some of the skills necessary for this fun activity but that should not stop you from trying your hands at it. All you need to do is set aside your apprehensions about making mistakes and get ready to get your hands down and dirty with DIY cake decoration. And if it doesn’t work the way you want, you can always check out an online cake shop and order a good-looking cake for a special occasion!

1.Basic Sprinkle Cake

Prepping a sprinkle cake is fairly easy, so let’s start with it! All you need to do is either bake or order from a cake delivery shop, 2 6-inch cake pans. Meanwhile, prepare 2-3 cups of vanilla buttercream. Set both the cakes on top of each other with a layer of buttercream in between and place it on the turntable. Spread the rest of the buttercream on the cake evenly with the help of an icing smoother. If the surface looks uneven, let it be, it adds more texture to the cake. Now, sprinkle the sprinkle dust on the cake evenly. You can place paper cut-outs of specific text on the cake to keep it clean and sprinkle the rest of the area. Once done, refrigerate it for 2-3 hours and it will be ready to serve.

2.Brown Candy Cake

Order 2 naked chocolate cake pans, 8 inches each, from an online cake shop. Stack the cakes on top of each other with chocolate buttercream in between. Place the cake on the turntable. Pour some chocolate sauce on top of the cake and spread it evenly. Now start placing cookies, chocolate bars, mini Oreos on the cake, pushing them into the cake a little, so that everything stays in place. You can also add a few pieces of fudge or brownie. You can choose to cover the whole cake or just half of it. Once done, keep it in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours before serving it.

Hope these ideas help you with your cake decoarations. Remember, there are no hard and fast rules for cake decoration. Treat your naked cake pan as a canvas and experiment as much as you can. You will eventually learn which flavours and styles are working and which ones are not.
