Indeed, Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam and it is the congregational Ibadah which is performed in the Holy city of Makkah. It is necessary once in life for those Muslims who have access to perform it physically and financially as well. [Quran 22:27] "And declare that the people shall perceive Hajj pilgrimage. They will come to you walking or riding on various fatigued (means of transportation). They will come from the farthest locations."

In another place, “They enquire you about the stages of the moon! Say, "They deliver a timing scheme for the people, and regulate the time of Hajj." It is not moral to beat around the bush; righteousness is achieved by keeping the commandments and by being honest. You shall notice Allah ﷻ, that you may do well. “[Quran 2:189]

Keeping the following verse of the Holy Quran, people from all corner of the world come to fulfill the religious obligation. And different airlines provide several 5 Star cheap Hajj packages to make sure the luxurious accommodation to facilitate the pilgrims. Yet, pilgrims must have awareness about the complete rites of Hajj orderly. They should refrain from those things which cause penalty during the Hajj proceeding.

As Allah ﷻ says in the Holy Quran: (Interpretation), “Hajj shall be performed in certain months. And those who set out to perform Hajj shall abstain from sexual intercourse, misconduct, and arguments throughout Hajj. Whatever good you do, Allah ﷻ is fully aware thereof. As you make your necessities for the journey, the best provision is righteousness. You shall observe Me, O you who hold brain. [Quran 2:197]

Hajj is actually, the memory of Abrahamic family whose trials were fulfilled by them in different ways and in different circumstances. So, that’s why they have become the necessary obligations for Muslims who have an approach to perform them.

As for as kinds of Hajj have concerned, so there are three kinds of Hajj:

1. Hajj ul-Tamatu
2. Hajj ul-Ifraad
3. Hajj ul-Qiraan

Hajj ul Tamatu is permissible for those whose residence is more than 48 miles from Makkah and rest of two like Al-Ifraad and Al-Qiraan are specified for those who reside within 48 miles of Makkah. However, there is no objection for those who live more than 48 miles from Makkah to perform Ifraad or Qiraan. Similarly, there is also no objection for those who want to perform Hajj Al-Tamatu but live within 48 miles of Makkah. Yet, all kinds of pilgrimage can be changed in certain circumstances.

If a person lives away from Makkah and he makes sure his dwelling permanently by Hajj Umrah travel agents for three years, so for him Hajj ul-Tamatu will be changed into Ifraad and Qiraan. However, there is no difference as to the availability of funds to perform pilgrimage being materialized before taking such residence or during the time of the residence. Also, there is no excuse even he has the intention to reside permanently. The rule is obviously the same as those who live in cities other than Makkah whose distance between those places and Makkah is less than 48 miles.

And when someone makes sure his residence in Makah permanently such as for three years and wants to perform Hajj ul Tamatu before the change of his obligation, so it has been recommended for him that he can wear Ihram for Umrah Al-Tamatu from any nearest Miqat to Makkah like Hudaibiya, Jirranah or Al-Tan’eem Mosque, etc.
