Restoring Balance to our Cells

When it comes to human longevity, the science of redox signaling molecules is showing promising results. Redox signaling is a process that involves reactive molecules in the human body. These reactive molecules communicate between and within cells. These molecules are produced naturally by the mitochondria in every cell in our body. One set of these molecules is responsible for activating antioxidants that fight free radicals and minimize oxidative stress. The second set participates in intracellular and intercellular communications, cellular protection, and healing. Therefore, with the right balance of these molecules better general cellular health is achieved.

The Powerful Effect of Antioxidants

The perfect machine is the human cell. When we’re young and in good health our cells typically operate at peak efficiency, producing essential energy for the rest of the body and repairing cells whenever needed. Antioxidants have a powerful effect on the human body and are empowered by redox signaling molecules. Studies have shown that antioxidants aid in disease prevention, protect cells from oxidative damage, and neutralize harmful free radicals. Eating healthy fruits and vegetables provide the body with needed antioxidants, and this helps activate antioxidants and the body’s redox signaling molecules.

For athletes, a trial was undertaken to explore redox signaling molecules effects on athletic endurance, ventilatory threshold, and VO2 max rate. The athletes were monitored for two weeks and drank ASEA daily, a drink its manufacturer claims contains redox signaling molecules. Performance levels were closely monitored. The athletes averaged a 12 percent increase in their time to ventilatory threshold. This demonstrated that they were able to expend energy and effort 12 percent longer before they hit the runner’s wall.

The results of the trial also concluded that athletes who drank the ASEA product should experience the ability to maintain a higher power output without crossing the ventilatory threshold. This will help athletes go longer at the same power burn, or operate at a higher power burn. Several athletes also experienced an increase in power output and endurance of more than 30 percent.

As we age our cells become less efficient. Factors including stress, poor diet, lack of exercise, toxins and pollutants, etc. all contribute to this diminished efficiency. The result is damaged, distressed, and poorly functioning cells. Therefore, it is essential to bring a good supply of healthy antioxidants into the body to nourish its redox signaling molecules to lead to human longevity.
