Step by step process for cleaning a heat exchanger:

Following are the steps for effective cleaning-

  •  Isolate the chiller by closing valves as close to the unit possible.
  •  Estimate the amount of water is present inside the heat exchanger and in the isolated pipe.The cleaning solution that will be used should be as twice as the volume of the heat exchanger.
  •  Ensure that the cleaning solution is full inside the heat exchanger.
  •   Make the solution aqua’s and turn on the circulation pump.
  •  While circulation pump is running add any anti-foam directly into the solution tank
  •  Add some cleaning product(CA-100,OX-sol etc) recommended by the representative into the solution tank.
  •  
  • Measure the PH level of the solution that must be between 2 to 3.
  •  Continue the circulating process of the solution and check if the PH level is increasing add some acid into the solution tank.
  •   Follow the above step for 30 minutes.It will clean the tank.Make sure that no solution is inside.
  •   Drain the tank and  the heat exchanger to a sewer.
  •    Add fresh water and circulate  the fresh water until it reaches the PH 6 to 7.

Your Heat exchanger is now completely clean and ready to use.
