The first and the foremost step in web design and development is to gather information. The purpose of the site should be clearly defined and should contain information about its products and services. A website should be designed in such a way that it matches the interests of the people within your demographic characteristics ie, the age, sex and occupation should be taken into consideration.
Planning
At this stage it is about conceptualizing the information you gathered. Organizing your notes into categories will help you to create a sitemap for the site. The sitemap should include all the main topics as well as the sub topics of the site.
Designing
The main purpose of designing phase is to design a high quality logo for the website. This will help to strengthen the identity of your company on the website. It is always good to design the template in Photoshop and then convert it into HTML-CSS-JavaScript in cases where you are developing the website from the scratch.
Developing
At this phase the website is created. This is done by first developing the home page followed by a shell for developing interior pages. This shell serves as a template for the content of the website. In this phase features like Word Press, Magneto, Databases, Contact Forms, Online Shopping Carts, and Payment Gateways etc are combined and implemented.
Testing and Delivery
In this phase the final details are analyzed and your website is tested. The complete functionality of forms or other scripts of your website are tested in order to ensure that your website is properly optimized.
Maintenance
The site will need to be updated with new content consistently in order to bring more traffic to the site. In addition to this taking website backups on a regular basis, updating the software, themes, and all other plug-ins are an important part of your maintenance.
