We all feel anxious at times in our life. However, when our anxious thoughts start to get out of hand, they can affect our quality of life. These tips will help you deal with your anxiety symptoms:
Challenge negative thoughts.
If you find that you are ruminating with negative thoughts, consider challenging those thoughts by using counter evidence. For instance, if your thought is “people never like being with me” Then, challenge the word “never” and then think about times when some people may have liked spending time with you.
Use your relaxation strategies.
Have a list of strategies that work for you. When you’re faced with a anxiety provoking situation, try to practice breathing exercises to help calm your system. You can also use other strategies such as meditation, yoga or exercise. Something as simple as taking a walk outside or running on a treadmill can help you cope with your anxiety.
We won't always be able to control outcome. There may be glitches even in the best of plans and you may encounter challenges that will test you. If things don’t go well, you should remember that there may be other circumstantial factors and it’s not entirely your fault. In these cases, we need to work towards accepting the reality rather than blaming ourselves. Instead of focusing on what went wrong, focus on what you can do to improve the situation.
Use your resources.
Reach out to family and close friends to talk to them about your anxiety. Dealing with anxiety can be difficult when you’re alone, talking to people that you can trust can be helpful. Anxiety is not something that you need to be ashamed of. There are many people who live with anxiety and you can learn to work with it. Talk with a counselling professional if you feel that your anxiety is affecting your day-to-day life. Also See: Negative Thoughts, Anxiety Symptoms, Youre Faced, Youre Alone, Anxiety, Thoughts, Work
