Step 1: Cut the key code

A key code is a set of characters that are used to make a specific lock. The first and the foremost thing that a locksmith will do is to cut the key code. There are mainly two types of key codes that are used to design a code, they are blind and bitting codes. In many cases, the key codes are stamped on the original keys or in case of high security locks they are given code cards. However, in case of lost key, the job becomes difficult. The locksmith make sure that he/she inserts the correct code blade to cut the specifications.

Step 2: Impression the lock

This is the most often used technique to unlock by locksmiths. This does not require to dissemble the entire lock. In this process, the locksmith inserts an appropriate key that bind the pins within the lock cylinder. The key blank is the most important tool of this process and is required to be very strong and durable. They make sure the impression obtained is correct or not. Steel and brass key blank is considered the best because they are strong and have less chances of getting broken in the lock.

Step 3: Dissemble the lock

This is supposed to be the last resort when cutting the code of getting an impression fails. The best way to dissemble a lock with damaging it is to remove the lock from the door and then dissembling it in a non destructive manner. This method is most often used by forensic locksmiths to analyze any particular lock. In case of absence of key, locksmiths generally dissemble the lock to have access to pins inside the lock. After that the locksmith can easily take the exact measurement of the internal components to make a new key for the lock.
In the event of any lock emergency, look for a service that operate 24*7 because one cannot predict such circumstances. To make sure you don’t have to replace or damage the lock, call professionals that can find a solution that does not involve the need to throw the existing lock.
