It is the kitchen layout that decides the type of range hood you can install. To choose the right size range hood, it is essential to consider the cooking surface it goes above. You need to be even more careful if it is a faux stone range hood. Here are the main types of range hoods that you can currently find in the online market.

Under-cabinet Hoods- These mount under the bottom of a wall cabinet. This type of a design takes a huge cabinet space, but this might be the only choice for individuals who cannot achieve the recommended stove-to-hood clearance with a standard cabinet hood design.

Wall-Chimney Hoods- Wall-chimney hoods work when no cabinets are present over the range and mount with exposed vent stacks on the wall.

Island Hoods- These hoods are mounted to and vented with the help of duct work in the ceiling. They can be custom-made as cast stone kitchen hood.

Downdraft Hood- These type of range hoods try to reverse the direction of rising smoke and fumes and exhaust them through ducts running under the floor. While they can be used anywhere in the kitchen, their main application is in islands.

Ductless Hoods- This is usually available on some hoods, whether it is under-cabinet, wall or island type. This type of installation can direct the steam, and smoke away from the stove top, but it goes back into the kitchen.

These are some range hood features that you can consider-

Airflow- Manufacturers endorse the cubic feet per minute (CFM) of exhausted air. it is true that more airflow means faster ventilation, but it doesn’t guarantee a better smoke capture and removal in your kitchen.

Number of Fan Speeds- Most of the available hoods offer from three to six as maximum fan speed. A minimum of two speed is recommended for good functioning of the hood- A high-speed setting to use when cooking, and a very low and quiet setting to use after food has been prepared to ventilate the space while eating.

Thermostat Control- A built-in temperature sensor in some models automatically turns on the fan if the temperature below the hood becomes too high. This feature is available mostly on over-the-range microwaves. The real purpose of the thermostat is to protect the microwave electronics from being damaged by high temperatures. If the temperature under the microwave is too high, the exhaust fan gets triggered to draw away the hot air and pull in cooler air from other parts of the kitchen.

Exhaust Timer- This convenient feature turns off the fan after a set period of time.

Consider all these features and types to select the best range hood for your kitchen. There are various e-commerce sites where you can find unique range of kitchen hoods like faux stone and cast stone kitchen range hoods.
