Useful Additives applications

Additives are important components that may be used in variety of applications all around. Additives come in their own applications and thus they are widely used in different fields. As these additives can perform defined functions they are used for specific purposes. Additives are generally used because of their basic characteristics that can eventually exceed their capacity if there is necessity of oil change. One must know that what must be used an extensive additives or  

additives that have their own characteristics and this can ensure that in whichever application it is applied it can ensure better output. There can be different additives which have their own applications and some of these additives are:

• Anti-foaming Agents – Additives like anti foaming agent have amazing characteristics that it does not dissolved but rather it dispersed. Some of these additives are actually oil-insoluble silicone materials that can finely dispersed in the lubricating oil.  These additives have very low concentrations that are usually required. It is important to ensure that this additives is added in right quantity, if too much anti-foaming additive are added, in such cases when it is used in higher quantity, it may have reverse effect. This can anti foaming agents for various applications. 

• Emulsifiers - Emulsifiers are other useful additives that act well in oil water based metal working fluids. They can equally act well in fire resistant fluids. Using additives can help create a stable oil-water emulsion which can be essential in some conditions. The emulsifier additive comes with characteristics of glue binding that can effectively bind oil and water together. In normal conditions otherwise, they will separate from each other because they have interfacial tension and differences in specific gravity but additives like emulsifiers can help achieve this common application.

• Tackifiers – This is a significant additive that can be used well in stringy materials. Tackifiers can act well some oils and greases. When used with lubricants such as Bright stock 150, it can effectively prevent the lubricant from flinging off the metal surface which is common state during rotational movement.

• Anti-oxidants – This is a Conventional Lubricant Additives. Oxidation is the general attack of the weakest components of the base oil that is caused due to presence oxygen in the air.  This may occurs in all temperatures. Antioxidants additives help prevent this. It has properties which can ultimately release acids so that it may produce corrosion for material. It can also create sludge which can results in surface deposits and viscosity so as to increase the formation of right application. They have sacrificial properties which can be consumed while performing their own set duty. This may protect the base oil.

• Anti-wear (AW) Agents - Anti-wear AW Agents are types of additives that are typically used to protect machine parts from wear and tear. It can prevent loss of metal at processes like boundary lubrication conditions where there is high probability of loss. They are actually polar additives that may attach to frictional metal surfaces. When they react chemically with the metal surfaces or when they come in contact with any metal they may occurs in conditions of mixed and boundary lubrication. They may get activated by the heat of contact that to form a film which minimizes the wear probability.

Additives are common substance used in various applications and these can be termed as important raw material for many segments. It is thus worth analyzing that which raw material to be used depending on which, right Bright stock 150 or Base oil Sn500 can be purchased.
