Summer's Just Around the Corner!

Posted by Radmin on May 20th, 2019

Which would you rather do this summer? Gather up all the swim gear and toys, pack everyone in the car, and drive to a crowded community pool, or slide open the patio door and have your own private pool only a few steps away? If the second option sounds inviting, now's the time to begin planning and contracting for your outdoor oasis. But there are steps that must be taken before contacting an Atlanta pool builder.

What Steps to Take First

Before the bulldozer and excavator appear in your backyard to dig a hole in the ground, you need to do some planning.

  • Decide what kind of pool scape you want. Do you want a quiet oasis, maybe with a babbling fountain, a built-in bench and warm jets to soothe you? Are you interested in hosting pool parties? Or do you want a fun-filled adventure for your kids, complete with a slide, diving board, and buckets that dump water on them at regular intervals? Do you want a dedicated swim lane? How about a net for water polo and volleyball?
  • Mark off the area in your yard where the pool will be located and decide if you want a concrete or gunite pool or a vinyl liner pool.
  • Do some homework on the internet to get a feel for the price tag on the type of pool you are considering and then visit a bank to explore financing options.

What Comes Next

Interview pool builders that have a top rating for customer service and are highly trusted. You want a company who excels in honesty and integrity and who offers the finest craftsmanship and design. Look for a company who can cater to your specific needs with a custom design rather than offering a cookie-cutter rectangle. The company should offer a wide array of shapes, sizes and materials and who can not only construct the pool but also can design it. Consider what the company can offer after installation, since you want to build a relationship with them. Can they maintain the pool for you? Are they capable of repairing and renovating the pool after a few years of use? Are they a member of any local and professional organizations, such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or the Pool & Spa News (PSN)? These are questions that should be answered before signing a contract with an Atlanta pool builder.
