Suron Ka Kaarawan – Old Hindi Songs

Posted by Sharvi Ahuja on May 23rd, 2019

BeforeI begin my morning routine, a day full of hustle, deadlines, and meetings, I make sure I hold my mug of coffee and tune into the collection of old hindi songs which make my morning instantly beautiful.
My day begins with keeping aside my mobile phone, and plugging into my favourite album from the Saavn list of Lataji and Kishore Kumar’s songs. The melody, the beats, the music just takes me to another world. It’s a world far from all the hustle.

The Indian Bollywood industry has been primarily dominated by Bollywood tracks which accounts for 80 percent of the country’s music revenue.
And there is a reason why we say “old is gold”. Thank you Saavn for reliving the evergreen era for me!
In that era, as told to me by my parents, there was a sense of satisfaction. Rivalry was less ferocious. There was concern, friendship and genuine meaningful relationships. There was harmony. Progressively imperative, individuals were quiet.
I would like to highlight the simplicity of those old harmonies. Even though they were simple, they were happier and peaceful.

My favourite songs being: Tere Bina Zindagi Se, Tere Mere Milan Ki Ye Raina, Dekha Ek Khwab, Kaanchi Re Kaanchi, Mere Naina Saavan Bhaadon etc. There is a certain aspect in these songs that really touches me somewhere deep in my heart and I tend to forget all my worries and woe and get transcended to a world which is full of peace and bliss.

Being a romantic person, I enjoy other albums like Mohammad Rafi songs and R.D Burman’s music as well! They were inherited upon to me by my parents who also enjoyed the same kind of music.
There is something very soothing about these old songs that modern new songs simply cannot replace.

As much as we all love the evergreen era, the magic of those classics isn't limited to just giving us good music. If one listens carefully, those fabulous songs from the golden era of Bollywood have answers to some of life's most pressing issues as well.
For instance songs like –

  • Zindagi ke safar mein guzar jaate hain jo makaan…
  • Aane wala pal, jaane wala hai, ho sake to ismein, zindagi bita do, pal jo ye jaane wala hai…
  • Musaafir hun yaaron, nag har hai na thikaana, mujhe chalet jaana hai….
  • Ik din bik jayega, maati ke mol, jag mein reh jayenge pyaare tere bol…
  • Zindagi ki yahi reet hai, haar ke baad hi jeet hai, thodr aansu hai, thodi hansi, aaj gham hai toh kal hai Khushi….
  • Zindagi kaisi ye paheli haaye, pal mein has aye, pal mein rulaye…
  • Ruk jaana nahi, tu kahi haar ke, kaanto pe chalke, milenge saaya bahar ke
  • Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna

These songs teach us how the realities of the world are, but we need not worry and continue with our quests.

I am blessed to have an app as efficient as Saavn that saves all my online music in a personalized folder that I can start playing any time I wish to. To download hindi songs, you just need to download the app from Playstore or iStore.
