Three Reasons to Consider Finding a Church

Posted by Radiant Church on May 24th, 2019

The German philosopher Fredrich Nietzsche (1884-1900) once declared that God is dead.

Many people misunderstand what Nietzsche was saying. He wasn’t saying that God, or the perceived spiritual energies of the universe, did not exist. He was saying that society was living in a way that God was not respected or acknowledged. They had moved on without Him. Basically, God had been kicked to the curb.

 Religion in Decline

Across the United States and Europe, western religions are in decline in terms of membership. Year after year less people are attending as reflected in the latest Pew Research polling. However, many people still find value in attending church in terms of social connection, and as a weekly reminder of the existence of God and of their own spiritual natures.

A Few Reasons to Consider Attending

Whether you are religious or not, here are a few reasons you may consider attending a Christian church in Colorado Springs. You may be surprised at what you find.

#1 – Grow as a Spiritual Being – If you’ve read this far, you must believe in God or at least believe in a spiritual nature of creation. Or maybe your approach to life is more philosophical, but you want to explore religion. There are many churches and denominations out there, and within these churches and denominations they all seem to differ one from another based on the leadership of the church. As you search for a church, find one that aligns closely with your beliefs. Or if you do not know what you believe, this search will lead you into some interesting places.

#2 – Look for a Place to Serve – Regardless if you are in exact alignment on the belief spectrum of a particular church, providing service to those in need is a great way to feel peace and recharge your spiritual batteries. If service is important to you, ask the churches you are investigating about their service program throughout the community. Ask how often they serve as well. Hopefully their service goes just beyond feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving.

#3 – Belonging to a Positive Group – By nature, people are tribal. We feel best when we are around like-minded, positive people. As we connect with others we grow in appreciation for our own lives. As we extend ourselves to others, we develop friendships where others are available to comfort us in times of trouble. Generally, people attending a Christian church in Colorado Springs are nice people that see value in others regardless of their situation.
