A judge Thursday ordered the release of police video in the fatal shooting by an officer of 27-year-old Danquirs Franklin at a Burger King in west Charlotte. The ruling came more than two weeks after the shooting, which sparked protests and exposed rifts between the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the African-American community.

 

Emergency personnel respond after car crashes into east Charlotte apartment

Emergency personnel responded to a car that crashed into an apartment in east Charlotte Thursday evening. Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene along Kilbourne Drive along 5:30 p.m.

 

13-year-old boy shot in leg during apparent northwest Charlotte drive-by

A 13-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after he was shot Thursday morning in his bedroom inside his northwest Charlotte home. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called around 2:30 a.m. to the house on Mistral Way, near Rozzelles Ferry Road.
