Yes, I am talking about the cannabidiol or CBD, which many people are cheering as the cure-all miracle drug. Many online sites have been launched to cash on this opportunity and to sell CBD edibles and CBD oil to gullible people as a cure for cancer, aids, diabetes and what not! Definitely, CBD has some wonderful therapeutic properties and doctors already using this as part of the treatment for several serious, life-threatening ailments, but that does not mean few bottles of CBD oil alone can cure cancer or such other life-threatening diseases.

Can You Get High by CBD?

This is a very common question, and most people are confused. The common belief is that CBD is a product derived from the cannabis plant; hence it should get you high. But this is far from the truth.

Apart from the CBD, there are more than 100 identified chemical substances in a cannabis plant. Among those hundreds, a particular chemical compound named THC has the psychoactive function, and it’s solely responsible for getting you high if you use cannabis in any form or shape. Hence, CBD, while used in its purest form without any trace of THC, won’t get you high, ever!

Under a microscope, both CBD and THC looks identical. They both have the exact same number of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms in their molecular structure. Though the arrangements of those atoms, i.e., how the carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms connected to each other, is different. This different atom arrangement in their molecular structure is the reason why THC has that psychoactive feature, but CBD doesn’t.
