Home Remedy for Periodontitis before Consulting a Periodontist

So have you been battling with periodontitis or maybe you are a mom or dad with a kid suffering from periodontitis and you probably haven’t yet found a periodontal service in your neighborhood and you are looking for some home remedy before consulting a periodontist?

The first time I heard the word periodontitis, I felt lost. I never heard of the word before. I was like, so what is periodontitis?

Periodontitis is an infection which damages the bone and tissue supporting the tooth. It occurs when pockets develop in your gums due to tartar and plaque buildup.

There are multiple types and stages of periodontitis:

• Chronic Periodontitis – mostly affects older people. It occurs due to lack of oral hygiene, plaque and tartar buildup.

You will need the following natural items which can be found in your home or a shopping mall;

• Salt – Salt is an antiseptic and antibacterial. It can to kill all the bacteria that cause periodontitis. To use salt water for periodontitis, get a cup of warm water and pour in 2 spoons of salt. Mix it and use the water to wash your mouth. You should do this twice a day after brushing.

• Coconut oil – use the oil and wash your mouth for about 15 minutes. Spit it out and rinse your mouth with warm water. Repeat every day after brushing.

• Guava – Guava is a source of vitamin c and an anti-plaque substance. Get some clean guava leaves and chew. After chewing for some minutes, throw it out and wash your mouth. Do this often.

• Basil – basil is great for bleeding gums which is one of the symptoms of periodontitis. It is an antibacterial leaf. Use powdered basil and mix with coconut oil to form a paste. Rub it around your gums. Do this every day.

• Turmeric – this is another antibacterial. It great for getting rid of bacteria in gums. Use turmeric powder to brush twice in a day.

• Black pepper – this is good for dental problems. Black pepper can be used for removing plaque and tartar in the teeth. Mix a spoon of salt with black pepper. Use this mixture to massage the gum three times in a day.
