Posted by ADVANCED CAREER SOLUTIONS on June 11th, 2019

As they always say, “first impression is the last impression”, your resume is your first impression on the employer or recruiter and you would definitely not want to ruin it. So, it important that it well written, preferably by one of the best professional resume companies and has all the important elements of a good resume. Here are 3 important elements of a perfectly written resume-

1. Clarity and simplicity

Since employers or hiring managers do not have much time to read each individual’s resume and the fact that there are hundreds of applications for a position, the last thing that you would want is a complicated resume. Recruitment studies show that, on average, a recruiter does not spend not more than 5 to 7 seconds looking at a resume during the hiring process. So, it is important that you present your personal and professional information in a clear and concise manner that employers can read in just a quick glance. For that, you can use a simple font that is large enough to read. Also, make sure to use bullet points instead of long paragraphs as they are much easier to read.

2. Highlighting relevant experience

If you are a veteran in your industry, there is no need for you to list the very first job you did decades ago. It would be better if you keep your employment history just to the past 10-15 years. Make sure to include all professional experience relevant to the industry.  This should not only include a description of the daily duties you had at your previous positions but also your accomplishments, standout results, and contributions as well. The best thing to do is mention achievements in your previous jobs that relate to what you will try to achieve in the position you are applying for.

3. Focusing on objective keywords  from the job description

You should always try to incorporate keywords into your resume that are listed in the job description of the position you are applying for. This allows the recruiter to quickly see that you ae a fit for the role. Also, profiles with relevant keywords are easily shortlisted by resume scanning software as a potential match.  It is highly recommended that you leave out qualifiers, such as “reliable” or “hard-working.” Instead, you should focus on highlighting your problem-solving capabilities or writing things that make you particularly suited for the job.
