The path to the N.B.A championship 2019, so far has been full of hair-raising twists and turns. A best-of-seven series between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors witnessed some heroic effort from players to help their team to the top.
Even before the shot to maintain the lead in the series was attempted, Warrior coach Steve Kerr decided that Klay Thompson would not play in Game 3 due to a strained left ham.
Considering the Warriors’ depleted lineup - absent Durant and Thompson - an advantage, the Raptors didn’t miss their chance to take a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven series, tackling every attack that Steven Curry could deliver. With the 123-109 victory, they are now two wins away from their first N.B.A title.
Turned into the top sports news in Houston in a quick span, Game 3 experienced nail-biting situations when Kawhi Leonard led Raptors with 30 points, while Kyle Lowry, a key player, finished in style with 23 points and nine assists. Amidst all this, Danny Green scored 6 of 10 from 3-point range for an 18-points finish.
For the Golden State Warriors, Curry tried to rescue his team, in the absence of Thompson and Durant, by finishing a career playoff high with 47 points. What’s more, the crowd cheered up when he had eight rebounds and seven assists. Draymond Green also finished 17 points for the Warriors, setting the wheels in motion for the team as the game moved forward. Despite Curry’s heroic effort, the Warriors could not escape their fate for Game 3 and lagged behind in the series.
Post-match, Raptors Coach Nick Nurse said, “I think Danny’s buckets boosted our whole team’s confidence”.
On the other hand, Kerr, Warriors Coach said, “They played really, really hard and gave it everything they had and just ran into a better team tonight.”
Game 4 of the series is supposed to be an important game when the Warriors will try to reinforce with Durant’s comeback and fight back to gain the title. As of now, both the teams - Warriors and Raptors - are looking to come out as the leader in the series.
