You have just finished high school and you do not know what to do from here. I have been there, we all have and I can honestly say that choosing my degree from all those that are out there today was daunting. I did not know where to go, what to do or what to pick. But, in all the chaos and all the confusion of a teenager cast out into the real world there were a few simple tips that I used to make that decision and find my fit n the world of university. Many of my friends and fellow classmates did not make it all the way through, having chosen a degree that was just not for them. Do not get me wrong, they went on to do amazing things whether it was at university or otherwise, but I always think of how much time and effort they put into something that was best suited to them straight up. Below are the top three tips that I used in order to get where I wanted to be and finish a degree that I truly enjoyed.

First and foremost, school is meant to show you where your strengths and weaknesses lie. I always loved science and maths so when I was considering degrees these are the courses that held my attention. If English is not your strong point try and avoid degrees that involve a lot of essays or will lead to jobs where a good grasp of English is a necessity. If you are good at a subject it is generally because you enjoy it. So consider what subjects you loved in school and play to your strengths. It will serve you well in the long run.

Next, consider the university rankings. Make sure that when you do final find the degree that suits your talents check and see what university have the best ranked courses in this field. This may be down to experienced professors or a high concentration of similar students in the area, but it will give you the best chance of success.

Finally, not all universities offer the same courses or teach them all in the same style. Double check the course content of the university you are considering to make sure that they match up with what you want from your future course. There is no point joining a course that does not have the content that you were looking forward to.

With these tips under your hat you are more likely to succeed in your university endeavours. Uni life is all about learning and having fun. You make new friends, you have access to societies and events that will bring likeminded individuals together. Knowing that you have a degree that you enjoy will help your studies and leave you more time to get out and about and simply be surrounded by the excitement that is university. So, good luck and I hope that these words will lead you in the right direction, for now and into the future.
