It's really hard to make a daily routine and stick with it.

Or is it?

Well, it turns out you can drastically improve the chances of sticking to your daily schedule by setting up a successful habit framework.

In this post, I’m going to teach you daily routine secrets that can change your life — and how to modify them to fit you like a glove.

Let’s get started!

How to Make a Daily Routine for Yourself

You need a daily routine for a few reasons:

  • Routines limit our choices and prevent overwhelm (one of the biggest benefits!).
  • Routines give us a framework to build on so we know what to expect each day.
  • Routines help us use our time more wisely instead of wasting this precious resource on indecision and unworthy activities.
  • Routines free our minds up for more productive work in shorter amounts of time.
  • Your daily routine and good habits will boost your mood and give you confidence about your day and abilities.

To start setting up a daily routine, you should follow these steps:

  1. Write down a list of tasks that you need to tackle regularly (that could be weekly, daily, monthly, etc.)
  2. Get it on paper (science has shown that writing things down helps with achieving them)
  3. Pick just one or two of those things and begin incorporating it into your daily life.

The key is to not start off too aggressively.

You want to be able to gradually build out your daily routine

Increasing Your Productivity

When you write down specific things that you want to accomplish, you're doing yourself a favor.

You're basically communicating to yourself that these ARE the things that have to get accomplished--no exceptions.

Once you make that commitment, you're that much closer to getting the tasks completed.

The key is to choose tasks that are urgent and important (kind of like the Eisenhower matrix). They should be integral to your overall week.

Once you get into a consistent schedule, you can begin to repeat it with ease.

Conclusion

Starting a daily routine might not be easy at the beginning, but it certainly gets easier over time.

Make sure you utilize momentum!

Kind of like Dave Ramsey's snowball method for paying off debt, you have to start small with the tasks you can bang out and incorporate easily into your life and then work your way up to the more difficult ones.
