What is Hybrid System?

It is a system that combines two or more than technologies with a goal to achieve a perfectly efficient system. Wind-solar photovoltaic (PV) hybrid system, wind-diesel hybrid system, fuel cell-gas turbine hybrid system, fuel cell-gas turbine hybrid systems, wind-fuel cell hybrid systems are some of the hybrid technology system. These systems combine various types of storage units and electricity production that meets the energy demands of a community. These are ideal for the isolated and remote applications like the military installations, communication stations and the rural villages.

Wind-PV Hybrid System:

The solar-based hybrid system that is in combination with the wind-energy is known as Wind-PV hybrid system. In this combination the wind generator acts as a backup supply for the alternating current that can be supplied directly to the load without using the inverter units. The electricity that is generated from this system is DC by nature.

Overcharging of the battery by wind turbine and PV array is prevented through a charge controller regulator and a back-power resource for the battery storage. This PV module converts sunlight into the DC and this system operates using the principles of semi-conductor. In this sort of hybrid technology PV modules are wired together to form an array.

Wind Diesel Hybrid System:

When a wind turbine is combined with a diesel generator it forms a hybrid configuration. This combination makes use of a renewable energy source for the remote and isolated zones where the grid structure is weaker, not sufficient and non-existing. This is a combination that enables the use of renewable energy source in the isolated and remote areas where the grid structure is weak, inadequate or non-existing.

FCT or Fuel Cell Turbine Hybrid System:

A fuel cell makes use of hydrogen, oxygen or hydrogen rich fuel to generate electricity by an electrochemical process sans combustion. This is more useful hybrid system because it does away with the formation of harmful pollutants and improves electrical power generation effectively. Further efficiency gains can be obtained by the integration of fuel cell with turbine.

One of the finest examples of hybrid system is ceramic circuit board which has been receiving a tremendous attention from the industry as they are very effective. Thick film refers to the thickness of the Ceramic PCB conduction layer. Normally, the thickness exceeds 10 micron. However, this thickness is lesser than FR4 board or Ceramic board.

Multilayer ceramic PCB is immensely versatile and can be replaced completely with the traditional printed circuits with a lesser intricate design and an enhanced performance. Using ceramic PCB can result in lower over and all cost and are very cost-effective for the denser packages. These boards are used as they have a high thermal conductivity and a better performance.
