The washing machine does not draw water - causes & solutions

Posted by John Smith on June 28th, 2019

All of a sudden, the washing machine is no longer drawing water. Often it also growls after the move and only draws little water. With a little manual skill, you can solve this problem yourself. Sometimes it's just a small thing, but it also has to be found. The cause research is therefore very important. So if you see the message "check feed" or a similar message, here are some tips offered by New York Laundry.

Cause # 1: Forgot a wacky water supply or power plug:

So seldom does it happen that this rather simple cause is the reason why the washing machine cannot draw any more water: a closed tap. Maybe someone has accidentally turned off the faucet or forgot to turn it on again. Try with a handle on the water connection, if it is open. That would be the fastest solution to your problem.

Likewise, it may happen that someone has pulled the power plug and the machine has no power. Of course, the program does not start without electricity and the washing machine does not draw water.

Cause # 2: The washing machine door is not closed properly:

The appliance is loaded with laundry via the washing machine porthole. A safety mechanism ensures that the wash program can only start if the door is properly closed. Properly closed, in this case, means that it must be engaged. In a hurry, this can fail once, if you with too little force try to press the washing machine door. If the washing machine does not draw water, then you should briefly press against the door again to make sure that it is properly closed. If the washing machine now draws water, that was the reason for the problem.

Cause # 3: The available amount of water is too low:

You can first check if the available amount of water is sufficient. The so-called "bucket test" is a simple method to ensure this. First, dismantle the washing machine connection.

If your washing machine connection also has an "Aquastop" at the inlet hose, please disassemble it as well. Prepare a bucket that holds at least 20 liters. The "tub test" is considered to be successful if at least 20 liters per minute have passed through or just 10 liters have passed in half a minute. So if your bucket test went well, the search continues. Never forget, however, that you turn the faucet back on completely after turning it on.

Take note on these tips offered by New York Laundry, it will surely work.
