Categories of qualitative data analysis

Qualitative data analysis is divided into following five categories;

1. Content analysis

This is the process of organizing data which is in the form of text or audio etc in to tabular form and categorize it accordingly.

2. Narrative analysis

4. Framework analysis

It is an advanced type of data analysis which involves advanced methods and several stages, including coding, charting and interpretation.

5. Grounded theory

This method of data analysis is started with a single story and then other cases are analyzed to see if they contribute to the theory formulated by that single story. Qualitative data analysis can be understood by the following three steps;

• First step is coding of data which is a form of categorization of data. A code can be assigned to qualitative data.
• Unlike quantitative data analysis there are no set of rules or techniques that can be used overall for all data to get the same results. Nevertheless, there are some techniques, such as repetition of words and metaphors.
