Posted by Surrogacy Bangkok on July 1st, 2019

Infertility is the condition when women fail to conceive normally. This means that such women, who face certain complications, may not be able to get pregnant naturally after having intercourse.

Under such circumstances, women who face this condition are said to be infertile, and the condition in itself is termed as infertility. So, practically, infertility is a condition or complication in women when they are not able to get pregnant naturally.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) techniques

IVF is one of the most common technique’s that is practised in medical facilities. It is a procedure that may be considered similar to having a test tube baby. Unlike test-tube baby, IVF involves fertilization procedure to take place inside the mother’s womb.

The process is also different as compared to artificial insemination, in which the entire process of egg and sperm fertilization takes place inside the mother’s body. In artificial insemination, the sperms of the male are injected inside the mother’s uterus, and then fertilization of the egg takes place.

How is it different?

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a process in which the combination of eggs and sperms takes place within a regulated environment (ideal temperature and other conditions) in labs. The moment egg starts getting fertilized, then the healthy embryo is selected and placed inside the mother’s womb.

So in IVF, the entire cycle of fertilization then takes place inside the mother’s womb. The technique is more effective as compared to any other methods of artificial insemination.

Process for successful IVF

As the first step of IVF takes place under laboratory conditions. But even before the sperms are mixed with eggs, the mother has to produce eggs inside the body. This process is done by injecting hormone inside her body.

The hormone injected help in increasing the egg count inside her body. The right time and tests are conducted by experts that determine if the mother is ready for egg retrieval or not.

Just before the retrieval procedure begins, injections are given that help in ripening the eggs for ovulation. Experts need to follow perfect time as a minute late or early than expected time, will never result in successful IVF.

• In case the eggs are retrieved early then they remain underdeveloped for fertility. Overdeveloped eggs are ones that are taken out much later in time and are not ideal for fertilization.

Once the eggs have started to develop (mature), experts regularly monitor then via Ultrasound.

Retrieved eggs are then mixed with sperm cells in laboratory conditions and later will be injected back inside the mother’s womb. Before being injected, experts maintain the growth of the egg in the lab to ensure they develop normally and healthy.

In a few cases, mothers may have to wait for around four to five days for eggs to get started with developmental stage. On being ready, the same eggs are transferred inside the mother’s womb for full development.

Success rate with IVF

Experts suggest that IVF offers women the best success rate as compared to any other method of insemination. In most cases, IVF offers with around 20 to 30 per cent success rate. It is important for experts and parents to take all necessary precautions when planning for IVF.

IVF offers with minimum risk to the mother even after she has undergone this procedure. Health risk may occur, but proper care is important for mothers, even after the procedure.
