Orthopedic surgery is the field that deal with musculature and skeleton together(musculoskeletal) in case of any injury or pain for any such reason. However, not many of them know the scope of this surgery. Musculoskeletal consist of bones, adjacent soft tissues, joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscle that allows bone and joint movements. That's the reason why most of the orthopedic surgeries are recommended for knee, ankle, hip, wrist, shoulder, elbow and spine. The most common and frequently done orthopedic surgeries are shoulder arthroscopy and decompression, knee arthroscopy and chondroplasty, carpal tunnel release, removal of support implant, knee arthroscopy and meniscectomy, knee replacement, knee arthroscopy and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, repair of trochanteric fracture, repair of femoral neck fracture, and hip replacement.

The technique that are used to perform the above orthopedic surgeries may vary depending on the ability, availability of equipment, and knowledge and expertise of the surgeon. So, depending upon what they are best at, they can either go for traditional method or open surgery or arthroscopy.

Just for your knowledge and understanding, we are going to mention seven general procedures related to the orthopedic surgery.

1- Spine Fusion

This is the procedure used while performing spinal surgery. Using this procedure, the spinal bones or commonly known as vertebrae are fused together.

2- Osteotomy

This procedure is employed to fix irregularity or deformities of bone structure.

3- Debridement

Using this procedure, damaged bones or worn out soft tissues are removed.

4- Joint replacement

Due to any accidental injury or arthritis related issue, joints get damaged. Using joint replacement procedure, the damaged joints are replaced. Prosthesis is done to replace the damaged joints.

5- Arthroscopy

In this procedure, an instrument called arthroscope is used to deal with the problems occurred in joints. Using this procedure, surgeons repair your cartilage and knee pain.

6- Revision joint surgery

As the name suggests, using this procedure, a pre-existing implant is replaced with a new one.

7- Bone fracture repair

Using this procedure, broken bones (mostly due to severe accidents) are repaired using metal plates and disc, pins, or screw.

These above procedures require some orthopedic surgical instrumentswhich makes it easy for surgeons to operate. If you want to know more about orthopedic implants and instruments, then it would be better if you can get in touch with any surgical equipment suppliers who can give you a detailed info about different instruments and equipment that are being used in the surgery.
