Halpern - Where Ready-to-Wear Meets Haute Couture

Posted by Sanaya Rathore on July 9th, 2019

According to Michael Halpern, Spring/Summer 2019 is his most understated collection yet. Nonetheless, it is rich in primary colours, making up art-disco patterns, inspired by modern shapes and a plethora of sequins. It is guaranteed to transport you back to the swinging 60s via patterns and hues, whilst tight, cropped trousers and a pink patent cropped jacket serve as the collection's standout pieces. The best thing about the collection is that it is all-party, which means you don’t have to overthink your accessories. The clothes are doing all the hard work, so pair them with simple heels and keep the jewelry to a minimum. That way, you won’t distract from those sequins, which will be sparkling all night long. The collection is the perfect example where ready-to-wear meets haute couture.

It is not surprising though, since Halpern was always known for his unabashedly glamorous aesthetic. A New Yorker by birth, he graduated from Parsons School of Design and completed his MA at Central Saint Martins in London. Currently, Halpern designs are made in Leicester, and is the fastest developing young brand in the UK.

For Halpern, more is more. Even though the brand has very few collections under its name, it has managed to create a signature aesthetic, that is brazenly fun. It is all about unapologetic glamour, clashing colours, asymmetrical necklines, wild flares, show stopping dresses and of course, swathes of sequins. Every piece from the brand is exuberant and joyful, yet modern and infinitely wearable.
