Posted by sani pilani on July 9th, 2019

E-commerce is an abbreviation for electronic commerce and refers to any commercial activity that includes the buying and selling of goods and services or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet. And like all business, here too there are two parties involved, “the seller” and “the buyer”. The seller here, is referred to an e-commerce merchant.

Where there is business, there is obviously money involved, and then enters e-commerce payment gateway in the picture. There are many e-commerce payment gateways available and to name a few, I would like to mention PaypPal, PayUmoney, Atom Technologies, 2Checkout, RazorPay and many more as such.

e-commerce merchants

An E-commerce merchant is someone who sells exclusively over the Internet. A merchant will sell their goods to the customer for a profit, and by law, will have a duty of care to the customer due to the knowledge of the products he has for sale.

e-commerce payment gateways

A payment gateway is an ecommerce service that processes card payments for online and traditional brick and mortar stores. Payment gateways facilitate transactions by transferring key information between payment portals and the front-end processor/bank.

In short, a payment gateway is an e-commerce service that allows merchants to accept credit card and other forms of Internet transactions securely via one’s website.

Payment gateways play a crucial role in the ecommerce transaction process, authorizing the payment between merchant and customer. For a seamless transaction you can refer to a few popular payment gateways like; PaypPal, PayUmoney, Atom Technologies, 2Checkout, RazorPay and many more as such.
