Reasons Why You Don’t Feel Prepared for College

When you have recently finished high school, and you're about to go to college, you feel mixed emotions. You feel excited about being in a different environment and meeting new people. You also worry that things will drastically change, and you won't feel comfortable. There are lots of other reasons why you feel like you're not ready for college.

You didn’t prepare well

When you were in high school, you spent only a few hours studying, and you didn't even put much effort into your university admission application. You were lucky to receive an acceptance letter from one of the universities you applied for, but your lack of preparation will make you ill-prepared for what's coming ahead of you.

You don’t have real-world experience

The problem with some high schools is that they base their lessons primarily on books. They don’t allow students to experience the real world and be in an active learning environment. If your school didn’t prepare you in this regard, you might worry that you won’t do well in college. You’re now going to specialize in a specific field, and you can’t afford to rely only on theoretical knowledge.

You spent your high school days doing crazy things

It's understandable for you to be hyperactive in high school and not to have enough focus. The problem is when you didn't take any of your lessons seriously at all. You will suffer when you get to college. You won't have teachers who will feed everything to you. It's crucial to learn how to be an independent learner. There’s nothing wrong in discovering the world and in getting a little crazy in high school, but you can’t lose sight of your future.

You have never been away from your family

When your chosen university is miles away from home, it might be difficult for you. However, since you got accepted by that university, you have no choice but to leave home. You might feel uneasy right now because you know that the next few years will be very different from your life now. You might feel academically prepared for the challenges of college, but you aren't prepared for the emotional issues that come with it.

Choose online courses

If you don't think you can study at a conventional university, you can opt for an online course. There are high-quality schools and institutions offering programs online. Find one that suits you, and it could be a fantastic experience. You will also learn a lot when you study online. You will have a teacher who will guide you. The program details are similar too.

If you want to pursue nursing education, you can find some of the best online programs that will help you achieve the dream of working in the medical world.

Online programs are not only for high school graduates moving to university. Even if you're now working, years after receiving your degree, you can continue your studies online and pursue a different passion.
