Whether you are planning a trip of your dreams, or a client has sent you halfway around the world to shoot your next assignment, you would want to ensure that you have all the necessary equipment available with you. Here are a few pieces of travel photography gear that you should have for your next trip -

Arca-swiss plate - The idea behind introducing the quick release system was quite simple, but very effective. Almost all professional photographers that use super-telephoto lenses have upgraded to the Arca-style swiss plate for ease of use, stability and compatibility reasons. The biggest advantage of the Arca-Swiss quick release system is its ability to slide the plate without having to worry about mounting or dismounting anything. If you have not converted your regular camera to this format, do it now!

Short prime lens – There was a time when the prime lens was king when it came to sharpness and contrast. However, time changed and people started piecing kits together with zooms instead of primes. While primes are very important, you should also take at least one short prime lens with you.

Lens Feet and Collars - While these plates work great for most cameras, they are not suited for lenses with a tripod foot. If you are using heavy, super-telephoto lenses, you should go for the replacement arca-style feet and collars. They are specifically designed for each lens. Some of them are also interchangeable.

Gimbal Heads - The long foot allows for movement on the base mounting clamp and is designed to balance the camera and the lens combination. This is another huge advantage of the Arca-Swiss-plates as they could be used with a Gimbal-type tripod head that ensures a fluid motion of the setup to photograph fast-moving subjects.

Clamps – Over the years, camera manufacturers have been coming up with more creative ways to design their own Arca-Swiss quick release clamps. Today, you will easily find equipment - from the most basic screw-knob clamps to the advanced panning and sliding clamps for different photography requirement, such as panorama and macro photography.

Plug adapters – This might seem very obvious, sometimes, we miss the basics. Plug adapters don’t need to be bulky. New models are so small and flat that you can easily stick them in pockets all over your bags.

In order to ensure that you get the best possible shots, it is important to invest in the right photography equipment. Get the best tools and enhance your photography!
