What’s in Store for the Next ICC Cricket World Cup

Team of the Tournament

The World Cup has come to a close. England has won their first title, New Zealand is runners-up for the second consecutive time, a thrilling final match was played where neither India nor Australia was a part of, and a Super Over was needed to determine a winner. From washed-out games due to rain to unexpected defeats, the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup had it all.

England, who saw their first cricket world cup match 44 years ago, lift the trophy and claim the title as cricket world cup champions. New Zealand, who have made their second straight finals appearance only to fall short again, might not have made it this far if it wasn’t for their superior Net Run-rate; Pakistan and them were tied in points. Australia was dominant in the group stage but failed to step up their game when it mattered the most. India, being themselves, cruised through the group stage, winning a few games by a small margin. No one expected them to not make the finals, especially since they were the crowd favorites.

All the teams that were dropped after the group stage have four years to prepare for the next tournament. According to the world cup schedule, the next one will be held in India in 2023. If not obvious, India will look to avenge their semi-final loss in this year’s tournament. Before that, however, the team will undergo a major overhaul of its players and management. Live cricket online matches will be broadcasted across different and multiple channels and/or mediums for everyone to enjoy - especially for Indians since they are the most passionate about cricket. As for bettors, world cup odds will be shown once they are available; check the various sports betting sites to keep yourself up-to-date on news regarding cricket odds.
