Selecting a Suitable Curtains For You Bedroom

The curtains you choose should make your bedroom look cozy. One of the main factors you should consider when choosing curtains for your bedroom is the amount of light you need in the bedroom. This goes hand in hand with the level of privacy you want in your bedroom. For those living in the country side, with no other houses around, privacy is not an issue and therefore they can have lighter curtains.

If your bedroom has small windows you can choose long curtains extending below the small windows. This is meant to create an impression of large windows. The curtain can include a roman shade made of woven wood or a soft fabric. Since the materials are almost translucent the window outline will be slightly visible during daytime. If you want added privacy you can have a blackout lining under the fabric.

For large windows the curtains have to be equally large. This means you have to use a large quantity of fabric material. A great design for large windows is a layered look. This is achieved by having a number of sheets partly covering the window. The sheets get support from a heavy panel of fabrics and give the window an interesting look. Some curtains have an arched design. You can choose to keep the character of the windows by choosing not to cover them with curtain fabrics. For the sake of privacy you can have a roman shade made of thin fabric covering the lower part of the window leaving the upper semi circle part uncovered. The curtains can also be hung in such a way that it is possible to pull them away during the day.

Some bedrooms have special windows such as the bedrooms having bay windows which add depth to the room. The curtains chosen for these windows should not change the effect provided by the bay windows. This can be achieved by hanging various sheer panels over each section of the window to ensure sufficient sunlight during the day and maintain privacy. For those who do not prefer to have a formal looking bedroom, cafe style curtains will do the trick though they will only cover half the curtain. A valance can also be placed at the top of the bay window to make it look more colorful.

If your bedroom has French doors, the curtains you use should be able to reduce visibility for maximum privacy in your bedroom. French door curtains are usually made from fabrics that do not hinder movement such as silk, muslin or sheers. You can also have lace curtains on your French doors for a better look. The best material for this purpose is French polyester voile since it has a texture that diffuses the light beautifully. With this, material cleaning should not be and issue. Selecting a curtain material that rhymes with the general theme of the bedroom can be a daunting task but it is important if you want to make your bedroom a relaxation area.
