In networking, the Received Signal Strength Indication or RSSI is a power measurement unit for the signal received by an antenna. It allows to estimate the quality and intensity of the received signal. It is usually expressed in dBm although the value in dBm is relative to the one in mW.
Signal quality is a value from 0% to 100% and the signal is usually considered as usable if the quality is above the level of 25-30%. This information can be useful when dealing with all kinds of signals, including your home WiFi or even cellular network connection. For instance it can be useful for companies to determine where to position a relay antenna or when you are troubleshooting issues with your home Wifi network.

NetSpot allows an end user to observe an RSSI value while measuring the signal strength of a WiFi network. You will therefore be able to troubleshoot all kinds of issues such as interference or low signal strengh. With the amount information provided, things can get as technical as you want for you to find exactly what you are looking for.
