Reflected Ceiling Plan in Building Projects and How AV Symbols Help in Imagine

Posted by AV Symbols on July 22nd, 2019

Whether it is a complex building project or a simple one, a reflected or specular ceiling plan is necessary for project documentation along with a floor, plumbing, electrical, furniture layout and other building plans. A reflected ceiling plan is a plan of the premise, located to be visible when viewed from above. The plan is called reflected because the individual surfaces and elements of the ceiling are shown in a reflected form. It gives important information about the form of the ceiling, elements of ceiling decoration, location of the lighting fixtures and their types, windows of the upper light and other holes in the ceiling. Generally, it also contains the layout of the furniture and plumbing located in the premises.

All the information is listed and presented in a clear graphical form with ceiling plan symbols that indicate the links, dimensions, distances, and other technical parameters. A well thought-out and technically competent design project containing ceiling plan symbols help the engineers work more effectively and efficiently. The more detailed the plan, the easier it is to implement it. In addition, a detailed reflected ceiling plan allows, if necessary, for correcting some possible shortcomings before the installation work gets started.

AV symbols professional libraries provide the engineers, architects, owners, integrators and consultants with a simple way to visualize AV, communications and broadcast technology on architectural plans so they can understand the function and location of the technology. These symbols include but are not limited to:-

  • Video
  • Audio
  • AV Furnishings
  • Control Systems
  • Environmental Control
  • Central Vacuum
  • Communications Networks
  • Receptacles, Sensors, Switches and Alternative Energy
  • Safety and Security
  • Tags

AV ceiling plan symbols can be recognized by their shape (e.g. a rack looks like a rack, a speaker looks like a speaker). Functions, for example, ports are represented by triangles. Some of their various features are:-

  • Easy scaling
  • Multiple views of each symbols to conform with project norms
  • Symbols stretch/scale, so symbols approximate real size, such as flat panels, screens and racks
  • Multiple insertion points for easy positioning
  • Option text movement (H, V and rotation) so the text does not conflict with other objects

The types of lighting fixtures, design, and their location are selected in a way that the rooms are filled with light, usually maximally approximated to the natural daylight. In some cases, a different approach and a unique design are utilized by making use of additional lighting, making it possible to vary the illumination's degree, in order to create a special atmosphere of mystery in a room.
