Will it be granite or marble?

Characteristic of marble and granite are the beautiful drawings, the fascinating hues, the depth in the material and the (sometimes) present fossil remains of millions of years old. Together they form a unique product.

You would almost forget that - with the rise of ceramic countertops and years of domination by countertops made of quartz composite - there is also natural stone. Fortunately, we see that natural stone is gaining ground again and there is more demand for marble and granite.

What is marble and granite, what are the differences?

Marble is a limestone created by metamorphosis. Fossils and lime mud were precipitated millions of years ago. Overlying layers of rock have formed the marble through pressure. Marble can also occur if limestone causes the metamorphosis to occur due to pressure and high temperatures. The many colors and veins are characteristic of marbles, just like the crystal structure and sometimes fossil remains. The great thing about marbles is that almost no layer is the same and that a unique piece of stone always comes out of the earth. You can visit Marble Handicrafts.

Granite was not created by metamorphosis, but by coagulation. Granite (derived from the Latin word granular, which means granules) originated from magma which was formed hundreds of millions of years ago after cooling and enormous pressure. Due to the cooling and subterranean pressure, the layers of the earth rose upwards so that they were also mixed with each other. This results in the beautiful fan-shaped patterns that can occur in granite. However, the composition will differ per rock.

Because granite was formed under higher pressure and under the influence of higher temperatures, it is also a harder material than marble. In that case, granite is, therefore, better suited for use as a kitchen top. However, marble can also be used as a work surface, as long as it is processed, used and maintained properly.

In short, with granite or marble, you literally bring nature into your home. Due to the natural variations in the structure, countertops have a unique appearance. As a true natural stone enthusiast, we are pleased with this increasing popularity of natural stone. We are happy to inspire you with our amount of colors and structures.
