Now we all know the risks of allowing termites to rest in our homes. Basically, they pose a big threat to wooden items and furniture in your home, while also weakening doors, walls and other household items. Not just that, but they could also cause respiratory issues and allergies in human beings. We thus thought it would be important to teach everyone how to follow simple anti-termite treatment methods at home.

While the ultimate last resort is contacting a pest control professional, there's plenty that can be done before it reaches the extreme stage. Simple termite solutions can be prepared at home. What these do is that they help in repelling or preventing termites temporarily, if not destroying the issue from the roots altogether. For all those who didn't already know, termite treatment can begin with a few, easy to follow steps at home. Take a look:

1)    Find right termite solution: There are a number of DIY termite solutions that can be made yourself. Choose the best as per your liking (or maybe even multiple solutions) and then watch the results. Some of these home termite treatment methods include using white vinegar, salt, essential oils and other household items. For example, let's look at a Boric acid solution for getting rid of termites at home. This substance is a useful one for household cleaning and is also known as sodium borate or just Borax.

2)    Creating solution: This is probably the easiest part of the process. To create a termite solution, all you need to do is mix a single teaspoon of boric acid with a cup of hot water. Shake the solution and place within a spray bottle. While the solution can also be applied manually, a spray can is always handier. Remember to handle the chemical with care. The last thing you need is for the Borax to come in contact with kids or pets at home.

3)    Spraying the termites: For this, you need to first identify the termite-infested areas at home. It could be your door/window frames or beds or tables or anywhere else. Spray the solution in suspected areas every second day. While it's good for cleaning at home, the substance is a neurotoxin for termites. What it does is that it shuts down the nervous systems of the termites, which obviously dries them out and kills them. The solution can also be sprayed at other areas to avoid termite colonies, if they aren't already there. It's handy to keep this solution at home and sprayed on desired areas every 15-20 days.

Now you know how to create a simple termite control solution using boric acid and you can also look up other similar solutions that can be made using household items. Another useful method is using essential oils as they aren't even toxic to human beings. These oils can just be applied to cotton balls and you can rub the same in termite infested areas in order to start seeing quick results.

While there are a number of ways to do it yourself and create solutions for repelling termites, it's always the best idea to give a call to your nearest pest control brand and let them take care of the issue at hand. These guys have been doing the same routine for years so they know exactly what chemicals to use in order to get rid of termites from your home. Also, they will provide you with permanent solutions, with some of these services also giving you warranties and guarantees. In case there's a relapse, they will sort out the issue for little or no added costs!
