Whether it’s because we skipped breakfast, itching for lunchtime or it’s the afternoon slump, we’ve all felt that rumble in our stomach letting us know that we’re hungry. To combat these hunger issues, many of us bring snacks to work but it’s easy to get bored of them, especially if you’re eating them every day. Carrots and hummus are one of the most versatile snacks for work. Made from chickpeas and sesame oil, hummus is high in protein and is an excellent source of healthy fats and fibre. Carrots are also an excellent source of vitamin A and potassium, making carrots and hummus a well-balanced, satisfying and delicious snack. What is great about this snack is that you can substitute the carrots and hummus with different items. For example, if you feel yourself getting bored of carrots, substitute the carrots with celery or if you feel bored of hummus, switch it out for cottage cheese or another dip. Low in fat and calories, they are the perfect snack to fill you up until the next meal. The best thing about rice cakes is that you can combine them with your other favourite and healthy foods. Vitamin C is heavily reduced when fruits are dried, thus it is important to eat snacks with high levels of vitamin to replace the loss of vitamin C in your dried fruits.

It’s no surprise to anyone that nuts are a great source of healthy fats, dietary fibre and they contain a range of phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. When eating mixed nuts, you not only gain the dietary benefits of nuts overall, but also from specific nuts. A handful of mixed nuts often contains high levels of vitamin E. Vitamin E is a great antioxidant that helps maintain a healthy heart. Further, mixed nuts can help reduce blood pressure and prevent heart disease risk. Mixed nuts are great as you can pick and choose which nuts you prefer. With endless choice, nuts are not only incredibly healthy for you, they are also delicious when mixed in with dried fruits.

Not only is Greek yogurt delicious, it is also incredibly healthy and beneficial for your health. Loaded with tons of probiotics that help boost your immune system and help with stomach issues, Greek yogurt is great for your health. Further, Greek yogurt is high in calcium and packed with B-12, both vital to building strong bones, muscles and aiding the formation of red blood cells for the function of your brain. Because Greek yogurt has a plain flavour, you can add different toppings, such as fruits or nuts in or use it to make salad dressings to change up the way you consume it. The methods in which Greek yogurt can be used in foods are endless.
