Ways to Hide My IP Address

Your IP address is an important piece of information that allows each one of your devices to establish a communication with the online servers. As such, it allows websites to know facts about you that you might want to hide, such as your approximate location. Luckily, there are actually quite a few ways to keep this IP address confidential.

When websites know your IP address, they can track you based on this and know more about your online habits. One of the main reasons why general consumers want to hide their IP address is to bypass geographical restrictions: some content isn’t accessible from certain countries and using a different IP address will solve this issue. Another big reason is to fight censorship imposed by their government and therefore avoid having issues with the justice for accessing some prohibited content.
Many approaches are available to hide your IP address. You can use a proxy or a VPN server and therefore enjoy the extra encryption and IP masking. Tor is also a great alternative as it makes it very hard to track down your actual IP. To make things easier, just go your local coffee shop or really any other public place and use their free WiFi. It might be a little slower but due to the amount of people connected, it will be hard to track you personally using only the IP. You can also use your cellular network, which will give you an IP address that’s different from your home router’s.
In many ways, hiding an IP is good way to protect your online privacy, and doing it can be as complex or straightforward as you want.
