The mountain region of Tanzania – Moshi is a growing rural town. Backpackers usually pass through this town to reach the Kilimanjaro climbs but many under-estimate the beauty and gems of this place. The area is filled with not one but many activities that can keep you busy for a couple of days. If you are backpacking in Tanzania, here are a few things that you can do and enjoy while you are in Moshi.

Hike to Mandara Hut

Have limited time and money? Regretting that you can’t go to the Kilimanjaro climb, well, worry not. A day hike to Mandara will definitely make you happy. You can test the Marangu route that will take you to the first hut of Kilimanjaro. The hike starts from Kilimanjaro National park headquarters, taking 4 to 6 hours to reach Mandara station. Another surprise in Tanzania awaits you. Kikuletwa lagoon has warm water that is safe to swim in and the little fishes will nibble your toes, giving you a natural pedicure. The area is lined with huge trees and some of it has rope swings that you can use to unleash the Tarzan within. The hot springs are just an hour and a half away from the best Moshi accommodation. The ride to this place is a little bumpy but worth for what’s lying beyond.
