Definition: Diamond powder refers to diamond particles with a particle size of fewer than 60 microns.

What are the main applications of diamond powder?

1. As abrasives

Because the grinding ability of diamond is 1.25 times larger than that of cubic boron nitride, 2.85-3.57 times larger than that of silicon carbide and 6.25-7.14 times larger than that of white corundum. Therefore, as a kind of superhard abrasive, diamond powder has an excellent abrasive ability. It is mainly used for fine grinding or polishing of various precision components in the industry, science and medicine, manufacturing of resin bonding tools, metal bonding tools, and plating tools, and as fine abrasives for mold processing, gemstone polishing and gemstone bearing processing.

2. As Functional Materials

Because of its thermal and electrical properties, it has become the main raw material for manufacturing polycrystalline diamond powdersinter, such as geology, petroleum drills, cutting tools, drawing dies and so on. By mixing the diamond powder into thermosetting resin polymer, cellulose, phenolic resin or ceramic sheet, a new material with high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion can be made.

3. Preparation of nanocomposite materials

By compounding nano-diamond with nano-silicon powder, nano-ceramics, and various nano-metals, new nanostructured materials can be produced. Because of its unique properties, semiconductor devices, integrated circuit components, and computer components can be manufactured.
