If you’re looking for a fun and practical way to kill time, then you should choose quilting. You can be as creative as you like and at the same time finish a blanket that will keep you warm at night. All you need are the right materials such as quilters spray misting bottle, cutting tools, fillings and more. You can use these steps to learn how to make a basic quilt:

Get your supplies

Choose cutting tools- You can use regular sewing scissors or go for a rotary cutter as it is typically considered one of the easiest and fastest of the cutting tools.

Get a ruler- Don’t go for any ruler, an extra-long and wide ruler will work best for quilting. You can also look for a ruler that is 5x24 inches and made of transparent plastic.

Gather the assorted sewing basics- These may include little things like straight pins, safety pins, and a seam ripper.

Choose the thread- The thread may seem universal but is available in many different materials and colors. Choose a matching or a contrast thread color.

Select a fabric- There are several types of fabrics to choose from, pick the one that you’ll feel comfortable the most.

Other Items- You’ll need an iron, a batting, and a sewing machine.

Cut the fabric

Before you cut, make sure you know the size of your quilt. Measure the fabric using tape and cut it into two equal square pieces, counting at least 2 inches extra for all sides as you will require for stitching.

Design your quilt

There is an endless number of designs to choose from. Consider your pattern- Look for quilting stencil patterns for a wide variety of design collections.

Sew the three sides of the quilt

Choose either matching or contrasting colored thread and sew the three sides of the quilt cover using a sewing machine. You will leave the fourth one as you’ll need to stuff the inside with some cotton.

Fill the quilt

You can choose any batting. However, make sure that you don’t use so much that the quilt will become hard.

Seal the fourth side

After you’re done with stuffing, seal the last side of the quilt, and you’re done!

Quilting is fun. Make this as your activity at home when your kids are in school and have nothing to.
