he game of pool offers great entertainment. In order to take the perfect shot and get the most out of your gameplay, you might need to move your pool table at some point. If you don’t do it properly, you could end up behind the eight ball and may even cause scratches to your table. You certainly don’t need to hire a professional for this job, however, if you are not a handy person, doing it yourself can be a risky task. Whether you have a standard size 7ft pool table or a large 12ft one, here is how you can move it safely without causing scratches-

  • Take it apart - Just like you focus on the game itself and strategize to cue up your table for a move, you have got to have a strategy to move your pool table as well. Slate top pool tables are extremely heavy and can weigh anywhere between 650 to 1,000 pounds. So, the first thing that you need to do is take your pool table apart. Otherwise, it will take about 6 to 7 people to move your table. Moreover, the railings are generally not designed to hold that much weight. It is safer for you and the table to carry in pieces.
  • Size up the pathway of your move – It is important that you closely inspect your table before you start moving. If stairs are involved, take into consideration the size of your pool table and figure out exactly how small you can break it down. You would also want to make sure you have all the right tools available with you: screwdrivers, a couple of drills, roll dollies, moving blankets to name a few. If you are moving to a new house, it is recommended that you hire a professional for this job to avoid any costly damages to your property.
  • Reassemble - Reassembling the pool table means putting all of the pieces back together. You will also need to make sure the table is leveled. It is important that you have enough space in the area and a dedicated spot where the table will fit comfortably. If the place where you want to keep your pool table does not have enough space, but you still want to keep it for future use, storage may be the best route.
