This Is Why Jumeirah Lake Towers So Famous!

JLT is a commercial and residential high-rise development set around a man-made lake – or 3 man-made lakes to be accurate – and an area of parkland. Buildings are grouped in clusters of three, running from Cluster A at one end, to Cluster W at the other. The clusters proceed in an irregular T, U, X, Y, U, W formation as they near the alphabet’s end, which is odd but not a problem; either the planners couldn’t remember the correct letter order or someone was feeling slightly mischievous at the time. This mixed-use development is designated as a Free Zone, which offers applicable FZ companies a licence to trade and a wide choice of office options from which to conduct business. As well as offices, apartments of various sizes are available: studio, 1,2,3,4 bedroom and penthouse. Most residential buildings include parking, concierge, security and leisure facilities.

Eat, drink and shop

There’s a rich assortment of shops, cafes and restaurants in JLT; the building clusters and lake walkways offer everything from dry cleaners to opticians, print shops to pharmacies. Several supermarkets service the area, including smaller branches of Geant, Park N Shop, Carrefour and Spinneys. Edible delights from every corner of the globe are available, from the Greek tavern menu of Mythos Kouzina & Grill to The Cavendish Restaurant’s international fine dining with a Middle Eastern twist. Visitors can eat their way through Japan, Italy, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey and Ireland, with food from several other countries still to try. Local bars in JLT include McGettigan’s Irish pub in Cluster J, offering drinks, food and big screen TV soccer. There’s also neighbouring Healey’s Bar & Terrace where cocktails are the order of the day.

Location. Location. Location.

The development sits between Jumeirah Islands and Emirates Living on one side and Dubai Marina on the other. With direct access to the Metro network and the tram system a short walk away, this area is very well connected. JLT has its own access point to Sheikh Zayed Road, which means Ibn Battuta shopping Mall, Mall of the Emirates and many other areas of the city are just a short drive away, including Jebel Ali Port, JBR, Media City and Dubai Marina. Abu Dhabi can be reached in and hour or so.

Out and about

Most residential buildings provide leisure facilities to residents, such as gyms and swimming pools. There are Pilates and fitness classes available locally and several spa centres are dotted around the development. The lakes that form the backbone of this community are home to joggers, walkers and the occasional cyclist. This is also a good spot to grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Alternatively, pop across Sheikh Zayed Road for cinemas, water sports and the attractions in JBR. Transport in JLT is easy as the area is connected to the Metro system at two points: its own Jumeirah Lakes Towers Station and Dubai Marina Metro Station. Dubai Tram is accessible by a walkway that crosses Sheikh Zayed Road. There is also a feeder bus (route F40) that runs from JLT Metro Station to Marina Mall.                                                                                             

Primary to secondary

Schools in Jumeirah Lakes Towers include pre-school options, such as Kids Kingdom Nursery School in Cluster L, Learning Ladder Nursery in Cluster V, Oakfield Early Learning Centre, opposite Cluster J, and Kids Kare Nursery in Cluster E, which accepts little ones from just 3 months old. Primary and Secondary schools are available a short drive away, including Dubai British School in The Springs, Emirates International School in The Meadows and Regent International School in The Greens.
