Majority of people owns nice and luxurious watches that come with a chronograph but the owners are clueless that what it does. So before we answer that, let’s talk about what are chronograph watch? It is a timepiece that can be used as a stopwatch in addition to its standard display watch capabilities. Your watch will have dials that keep track of seconds, minutes and hours. It looks like a new concept to many but it is much older than you think. The name comes from its original Greek roots meaning “time writer,” referred to the ancient practice of tracking time, which in other words also known as a stopwatch. Many don’t indulge in using the extra features of the watch because they consider it as time-consuming and difficult to use. But if you are one of the brave ones and what to know how to use a chronograph, this guide is just for you.

Figure Out The Watch First

Once you have purchased the watch after learning how to measure wrist size for watches, it’s time to figure out your recent buy. Luxury chronographs are often equipped with three sub-dials: one tracks hours and one tracks minutes. This totally depends on the model that you have. The last sub-dial is usually for the seconds, telling the current time in seconds and is not part of the chronograph function. There’s a pusher on the right side of your watch’s case that controls the two sub-dials and the second hand. The one at the top starts and stops the chronograph while the one at the bottom resets the functions.

Reset The Chronograph

When you measure wrist for watch, it wraps around your wrist perfectly and will help you to reset the chronograph easily. A watch with flyback chronograph has two pushers instead of one. When you push the bottom pusher, the chronograph hand on the watch spins back to 12 on its own. If the chronograph is not a flyback then you will need to manually wind the chronograph hand to 12 using the crown of the watch. When you start using this particular function, make sure you reset the chronograph after every use. Otherwise, you will simply resume measuring time from the point at which it stopped, which could throw your results.

Measure Time

It is very easy to start the chronograph. All you need to do is push the top pusher on your watch. The chronograph hand will measure the seconds, and once a minute has elapsed, the hand on the minute sub-dial will inch forward, and the hands will continue to move until you press the top pusher again to stop the chronograph. But make sure that you measure watch size for wrist so that the watch is not loose. That will stop you from using the chronograph effortlessly.
